Juvenile Law All members of the firm provide experienced legal services in the areas of juvenile law in matters such as custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, traffic offenses, protective orders, criminal matters, delinquency petitions or matters involving abuse and neglect. Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts in Virginia have initial jurisdiction over all criminal cases involving minors under the age of eighteen, criminal cases where children are victims, child custody, child visitation and child support cases involving non-married parties, certain adoption proceedings, entrustment agreements, and child abuse and neglect proceedings, to name just a few. Because the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court handles such a diverse array of cases, it is important to have an attorney who is familiar with the court system and how it works. The JDR Clerk’s Office can answer basic questions regarding pleadings, court dates, court procedures, etc; however, they cannot provide legal advice. Because of the very important matters that are handled by Juvenile Courts, it is important to have an attorney that knows the daily practices, procedures, and routines of the various Juvenile Courts in the Northern Virginia Area. If you are unrepresented by counsel and have a matter that is scheduled for hearing in the Juvenile Court, you can expect the Court to hold you to the same standards as an attorney. Please feel free to contact our office to schedule an appointment with an experienced attorney who practices in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts in the Northern Virginia Area on a daily basis. Consultations are discreet and confidential, and legal representation can prevent unnecessary delays and complications that often arise in Juvenile Court proceedings. |
